A/Prof David Curtis
Associate Professor Curtis s the Director of Malignant Haematology Research at the Australian Centre for Blood Diseases, Monash University, Alfred Hospital. He completed his training as a Clinical Haematologist and Bone Marrow Transplant Physician through the University of Melbourne in 1994. He then completed his PhD at WEHI in 2000 in the laboratory of Professor Glenn Begley. After a three year post-doctoral stint at the NIH, he returned to establish an independent research program using mouse models to understand the genetic and epigenetic regulation of hematopoietic and leukemic stem cells with the goal of identifying new therapeutic approaches for blood cancers. His work has been published in journals including Science, Cell Stem Cell, Nature Structural & Molecular Biology and Blood. In addition to his research program, he is an active clinical haematologist and bone marrow transplant physician at Alfred Health.
